What’s better than a juicy homemade burger patty? A juicy homemade burger patty with a centre made of cheese! This recipe will make 6 decently sized burgers that can be spruced up to make gourmet burgers for adults or dressed down with the basics for kids.
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup tomato sauce
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp beef stock powder
- 1 egg
- ½ cup grated tasty cheese
- Buns and salad, for serving
Method
- Combine the beef mince, breadcrumbs, onion, herbs, salt, tomato sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, stock powder and egg. Mix lightly, shape into six burgers.
- Press a tablespoon of grated cheese together to form a disc. Place the cheese disc into the centre of each ball of mince and shape the burger around the cheese. Brush or spray the burgers lightly with oil.
- Preheat the pan to moderately high. The burgers should sizzle when you add them to the pan lower the heat to moderate. Cook for 5 minutes on each side or until thoroughly cooked. Turn them once only. Serve in a bun with your favourite salad ingredients and sauce.
Tips
- Burgers should not be served undercooked, rare or pink.
- To prepare the patties in advance for a picnic or barbeque, separate each with a piece baking paper to prevent them from sticking together.
