The Star Ingredient
We’ve used The Four Butchers Chuck Steak for this recipe – a cut that’s rich, tender, and perfect for soaking up marinades.
Ingredients
For the Skewers:
- 500g chuck steak or tender, sliced into 3 cm strips
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- ½ tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1⁄4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons fresh peeled minced ginger
- 1⁄2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1⁄4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Method
1. Ingredient Prep
Mix honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, and ginger. Prepare all ingredients including sliced chuck steak.

2. Marinate the Beef
Coat beef strips with ¾ of the marinade and let sit for 15–20 minutes.

3. Thread the Skewers
Thread 2–3 pieces of marinated beef onto each skewer.

4. Grill and Serve
Grill for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway and brushing with the remaining marinade. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve hot.
5. Dipping Sauce
Whisk all ingredients (except sesame seeds), chill for 1 hour, then stir in sesame seeds before serving.

Why You’ll Love It
These skewers are a flavour bomb – the honey caramelises beautifully on the grill, while the soy and oyster sauce bring that umami punch. Paired with a zingy dipping sauce, they’re irresistible.
